Our Town

Roast & Toast's home, of course, is the beautiful lakeside town of Petoskey, Michigan, which resides on the Northwest shore of Lake Michigan and boasts its own harbor (below) and plenty of parks and natural resources. Founded in the early 1800s, Petoskey - named for Odawa Chief Ignatius Petosega - has a population of around 6,000 and also boasts author Ernest Hemingway and Civil War historian Bruce Catton among its famous residential alumni. Also famed in the area are the region's Petoskey stones, a coral rock that is a popular souvenir. Popular activities in the area include boating, hiking, windsurfing, skiing, and snowmobiling. Petoskey Downtown
Petoskey Harbor Downtown Petoskey is also a great place to spend your vacation time! Comprised of six blocks of shops, restaurants, and galleries, you'll find Roast & Toast on Lake Street (complete with our back deck overlooking Little Traverse Bay) and surrounded by a wide variety of other local businesses. You'll recognize our cafe by the brick archway and all the coffee cups attached to the outside! And whether you choose to shop before or after your Roast & Toast stop, you'll be delighted to find stores offering everything from souvenirs and shoes to clothing and collectibles. And if you'd like a cocktail and some live music, make sure to stop by our sister restaurant, the Keedy-owned City Park Grill, for a peek at the antique bar - you'll be hanging out where Hemingway himself used to while away the days!
