Great Coffee
Doesn’t Just Happen

At Roast & Toast, we have been roasting and brewing some of the finest coffee since 1993, embracing the SCA philosophy that “great coffee doesn’t just happen.” Using carefully select beans from around the world, we roast according to bean profile, create blends, and conduct small batch techniques to maintain a selection of freshly roasted varieties.

OUR STANDARD:
Never sell coffee more than two weeks old. Any coffee inventory roasted over two weeks prior is donated to Brother Dan’s Food Pantry in Petoskey.

IN HOUSE:
We brew different varieties each week, rotating offerings with coffee sourced from around the world. Sample the globe with our daily brews. For those with a favorite origin, ask for our expertly made French-pressed coffees…we all have our passions.

A Slice of History

In 1993, Bob and Mary Keedy had a vision: offer the best, house-roasted coffee, house-made foodie creations, all in a comfortable and fun atmosphere. Roast & Toast was born. And now, 25 years later with Ben Walker as partner, Roast & Toast has become a local’s favorite and visitor’s destination spot.

Humble Beginnings

Owner Bob Keedy trained as a roaster in New York City. Honing his craft as a professional roaster at Roast & Toast for 15 years, key team members apprenticed under him maintaining a 25-year history of high-quality coffee.

Seasoned roasters, under the guidance of Keedy and partner Ben Walker, have mastered the craft, creating the finest small-batch, house-roasted coffees. Many continue their coffee education with certifications as SCA-trained roasters and baristas.

Talented Baristas

Our highly trained baristas are passionate about coffee, whether crafting a cappuccino, espresso, or one our many specialty mochas or lattés.  For those who prefer a little sweetness and flavor, we offer Northwoods Soda & Syrup’s small-batch syrups made with real cane sugar. Known for our extensive beverage menu, favorites include The Zen, Milky Way Mocha, and The Accidental Tourist.

We are proud to partner with two local businesses that utilize our coffee. Northwoods Soda makes Espresso Root Beer with our Roast & Toast Espresso, and Beards Brewery serves Beards Blend coffee and makes Malabar Black IPA with our Indian Monsoon Malabar coffee.  Additionally, Roast & Toast coffee is exclusively served at City Park Grill and Palette Bistro, sister restaurants under the Wineguys Restaurant Group umbrella.

The Kitchen

From baked goods to salad dressings, from hand-cut sandwich meats to breads — everything is made in-house using local growers whenever available and in season. Dine in, take out or have your event catered.
